Today marks a significant milestone for the Sweet Baton Rouge® family – the one-year anniversary of Petey's Press! What began as a dream to bring our production process in-house has blossomed into a vibrant, ink-stained reality, adding a new layer of creativity and control to everything we do.
Looking back at the whirlwind of the past twelve months, it's hard to believe how much we've learned and grown. The decision to invest in our own screen-printing press was driven by a deep-seated desire to connect even more intimately with our craft, to have a hand in every step of bringing our Louisiana-inspired designs to life. This wasn't a fleeting idea; it was a vision nurtured since 2021, a yearning to share the behind-the-scenes magic with you, our incredible community.
However, stepping into the world of screen printing proved to be a far more intricate and demanding endeavor than we initially imagined. We quickly realized that mastering this craft wasn't an overnight feat. There were steep learning curves, unexpected hurdles, and moments of doubt as we navigated unfamiliar territory. This new venture felt vastly different from the organic growth we experienced with Sweet Baton Rouge® – it demanded a different kind of grit, a relentless commitment to learning and adapting.
But through the ink-stained fingers and the late nights, a powerful force emerged: our incredible team. We owe a massive debt of gratitude to Lauren, who was there from the very beginning, and to Rhianna, who joined us later on this inky adventure. These two remarkable women have poured their hearts and souls into Petey's Press, their dedication and skill transforming our vision into tangible, wearable art. It's a true labor of love, the kind that leaves its mark not just on the fabric, but on our hearts as well. They are the hands behind the 95% hand-screen-printed magic you see in our merch.
